Implementation of ICPD-PoA

During the nine year period between’1991 and 2000, the total population of Malaysia increased by nearly five mrllion from about 18.38 million to23.27 million, at a rate of growth of about 2.6 per cent per annum (DOS, 1995 and 2001). The relatively high rate of population growth is a result of fairly hrgh rate of natural increase, augmented by rnflows of foreign workers. The number of non-Malaysians is growing at a rate of about 6 per cent per annum. Non-Malaysians make up about six per cent of the total population.
